I used a clamp to attach it, but welding would definitely be stronger. The springs on the bolt side were a bit stiff, so I used the old ones from my car. I'm really happy with it so far. Instead, I suggested she buy a replacement online and have it installed at the same muffler shop. She was able to get it done for a much lower price. While it didn't permanently turn off the check engine light, it only came on for a short period of time each month. Even after replacing the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors, the light continued to appear intermittently.
